Valentine's Game Night
Hi All,
Happy Valentine’s Day :-)
Our first, and hopefully last, lockdown Valentine’s Day. Not ideal I know but every Valentine’s Day for the last 10 years, the other half has ended up working so I am so pleased to have him home tonight.
We have had a lovely evening. A nice meal - spaghetti bolognese, cosy evening with candles and good company.
We were kindly sent the game: 20 Dreams to play this evening and it was such a fun game that really got us thinking and talking.
The game involves using your imagination to tell a story about a dream you’ve had to convey an emotion. The other player/s need to decide which emotion it is that you are trying to describe.
There are 60 picture cards and you choose three to help you tell the story of your dream. These pictures include a spider, a witch, waves - all sorts so the game encourages you to be really imaginative with your dream.
Each player has 20 emotion cards which they can use to work out which emotion you are describing through you dream. Some of the emotions are similar e.g. happy and excited, so you need to consider this when describing your dream to almost hint more towards one than the other without using the emotion words.
I like to think my partner and I know each other very well and often it came down to a choice between two possible emotions.
We got better as we played in telling our stories to narrow down the emotion options and I think we did very well :-)
We really loved coming up with the dream stories and these got really wild and fun which had us in fits of giggles at times. Even after playing we were discussing some of the wacky dream ideas we had come up with and laughing again!
We are a couple that love a games night. We feel very strongly that it is so important to take breaks from technology and have some time to communicate with each other without distractions. Card games and board games are a wonderful fun way of doing this.
With this game, we really loved the imagination element. You really had to think, firstly to come up with a story for your dream and then to make sure you conveyed the emotion through it. It’s great to play a game with a creative element but also with a focus on emotions and reading each others. This is a great way of connecting with each other and learning to read each other’s feelings more.
This is definitely a game that we will play with the rest of the family when we can all get together and I know my partner and I will be playing this together again during this week!
We really would recommend this game to couples, families - anyone who just enjoys playing games and has a creative streak or just wants a fun way of getting to know each other better.
