April 2020 Reading
Hi All,
Hope you are having a great day.
I read 4 books in April that I would happily recommend:
Book 1 - Falling Awake: How to Practice Mindfulness in Everyday Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn
I admit I found this book a bit heavy to start with and it took me a long time to get through the first few chapters. Then I seemed to really understand the purpose of the book and read the rest really quite quickly, over just a few days.
It addresses several different ways on how we can be more mindful in various facets of our lives. It also goes through meditation positions which I found very interesting. I thought it weird that I struggled to meditate in awkward sitting positions and was relieved to hear that other positions are more than acceptable.
If you are looking for an introduction to mindful living, I would really recommend this book. It has inspired me to consider a 7 day mindfulness challenge.
Book 2 - The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown
This was a lovely read and I took a lot from it. There is a focus on living authentically rather than focusing on achieving perfection. The book explains about self-worth and acceptance and I would recommend this book to anyone that has felt they have been until pressure to strive to be a perfect individual and needs to understand that they are perfect just as they are.
Book 3 - You Do You by Sarah Knight
A very easy to read book full of confidence boosting tips and tricks, filled with personal examples. If you aren’t looking for a heavy self-help book, I would really recommend this. Almost felt like a conversation with a friend than a self-help book.
Book 4 - Wilde About The Girl by Louise Pentland
This is the second fiction book by Louise Pentland and I read this as quickly as I did her first book. Another heart-warming story, following on the adventures of Robyn, Lyla and Kath. Louise’s writing enables you to view the characters almost like friends, you become emotionally involved and want what’s best for these people. A lovely book, would thoroughly recommend
