Impossible List - Volunteer Regularly for 3 Months

Hi All,

Hope you are having a great day.

I’ve now reached the end of a 3 month voluntary mentoring project. I’ve just wished the young people all the best for the future. I’m going to miss talking to them and hearing how they are getting on.

I signed up to this project last year and we had the induction etc around Christmas time. Things kicked off at the beginning of January and have just come to a close.

I was teamed up for a few young people who are in the process of working out what to do when they leave school. They were considering university choices or applying for jobs.

It was lovely to have the opportunity to talk to them, to help with CVs, personal statements, university applications. It has been a really fun project to be part of and I will be definitely be signing up for the next one.

The project was all done via moderated message boards. There was no pressure to reply in a specific time frame although I did aim to speak to my group twice a week at least.

If you have an extra 20-30 minutes a week, there are projects out there where you can share your skills and knowledge with young people. Being done online meant I could answer emails at work, on my phone, at home.

I’m so pleased to have been part of this project :-)
